Joint Friday – Career fair, panel discussions and Marco Gadola’s final speech

The very last day of this insightful and educative week was our Joint Friday, consisting of the informative Career Fair, interactive panel discussion and inspiring speech by Marco Gadola, CEO of Straumann.

In the morning the students of the FHNW had the chance to inform themselves about the specific job offers and entry programs of our partners including EBL, Bosch, Northern Trust, Accenture and many more.  Furthermore, the graduates profited from CV checks of next career services and pre-selected speed interviews which made the morning very special and meaningful.

Later on, everyone gathered for a joint panel discussion which was conducted by Michael Jeive, the Head of all International Student projects. During the discussions various opinions have been raised in terms of the importance of “Sustainability: do we walk the talk?”. The topic was not only discussed from an environmental aspect but also from the ecological and personal perspective. The various attendees, Michael Diaz, Head of Investment at Alternative Bank Schweiz, Sibylle Kuhn, Sustainable Finance Consultant at Inrate, Mevina Caviezel, Head of Sustainability at Senova Switzerland and Andri Silberschmidt, President Jungfreisinnige Schweiz shared their work and personal experiences with the students and motivated them to start with one thing in order to add sustainable value for the future. Also, the banking sector and political system with its regulations were marked with criticism due to the fact that more sustainability-related laws have to be implemented. All in all, the students gained various perspectives and views on the topic of Sustainability, which added to a valuable closing of our Preparatory Seminar dealing with the overlapping topic “From Waste to Wealth”.

Marco Gadola, CEO of Straumann AG, honored us for an inspiring speech pointing out the importance of corporate culture and shared his practices at Straumann AG. Essentially, he invited the students to step out of their comfort zone and follow their passion.

The evening ended with well-deserved Apéro which enabled exchange and networking with other projects and their experiences made during the preparatory seminar. All in all, every student gained enriching insights into the trends and ongoings in the world and is looking forward to deeper their knowledge on the On-Site Seminar.
